This photo was taken at the annual Hunnert Car Pile Up. I enjoy attending this event each year because it welcomes all walks of life without the pretentions of most car shows. Here, you'll find plenty of rockabilly enthusiasts showing off their latest tattoos as well as older car collectors looking for new ideas on pinstriping and chrome accessories. While tailgating and beer consumption are welcome, it remains a casual, fun event for all.
Mostly, I enjoy the show because I am free to take photos of unique cars with beautiful lines and brilliant colors, utilizing great outdoor lighting. Car owners at this event take my wanting to photograph their vehicle as a great compliment. And everyone is courteous of each other, careful not to walk in front in someone taking a snapshot. This city slicker has to load up on the allergy medicine before heading out to this annual event held amidst the freshly harvested cornfields on Morris, Illinois. But it is well worth it for the cool cars, casual atmosphere, some great shopping bargains, and the chance to escape the Chicago urban jungle for a day.
