Photos of the Day, January 20, 2009

There is absolutely no other choice for this "phoot of the day". Here are just a handful of the moments I captured in Grant Park on Election Day, 2008. I honestly cannot even begin to describe the energy, anticipation, and eventual joy felt by all in the park this night. What struck me most is how lucky the children in attendace were to have parents that not only let them stay up until midnight at a public event, but cared enough to allow them to witness American history in the making.

Regardless of one's political beliefs and philisophical leanings, I think we can all agree Election Day 2008 and Inauguration Day 2009 are hallmark moments we are not likely to forget for generations to come. Kudos to all who exercised your right to vote. I personally am humbled we have the privelage to vote and sometimes make our voices heard above the above the deafening hum of status quo...
